True Moisture®, LLC is a personal skin care company 100% devoted to educating and treating people with dry and sensitive skin. True Moisture®, LLC has three primary goals for dry and sensitive skin people:

1. To make quality skin and hair care products for them.
2. To make these products affordable for the people.
3. To give practical educational support for their care.

With “True Moisture®,” our name states our purpose: True, genuine, real, factual, sincere skin moisture. We have no need for hocus-pocus, cosmetic fluffery, clever acts, or marketing gimmicks. And, True Moisture® products are not just trying or wishfully pretending to be medical. True Moisture® products and the ABC system were created by a clinical dermatologist, MD.

Where True Moisture® Began

True Moisture®, LLC began many years ago in Dr. Jacobs’ busy dermatology office with exam rooms full of dry skin patients. After four years of medical school at the University of Southern California, and six years of residency at Loma Linda University, Dr. Jacobs opened a a dermatology office in the hot, dry, windy, retirement town of Sun City, California. Though there are now other Sun City retirement communities, this was the first, the original Sun City. The name said it all: “Sun.”

While modern Sun City, Arizona enjoys the active “Golden Years,” our Sun City was a quiet town of 8000 with two very busy mortuaries and a  Twilight Zone-like eeriness. Out of five dermatologists working in Sun City, Dr. Jacobs was the only full-time dermatologist and his office was filled with senior patients. Most patients were over 80, with thin, weather-beaten, itchy, dry, crusted, skin cancerous sun damaged type skin. It was well known that people came to Sun City on their last lonely journey. With this in mind, many had stopped caring for themselves and were living their days “just waiting to die.” Dr. Jacobs felt compassion and devoted himself to them. They needed love, care, and young people who would listen to their story.

Over time, the population changed. The original Sun City residents passed on, and younger families began to move into the local area. As Sun City grew, Dr. Jacobs began to see, not only seniors, but also babies, children, teens, and younger adults, all with dry and sensitive skin. Dr. Jacobs recognized a pattern in his Sun City patients. Life in Sun City was like living in a virtual food dehydrator or like tumbling in a hot clothes dryer. It was mostly dry-windy air, the use of soap, harsh laundry products, allergies, perfumes, and lack of factual dry and sensitive skin education that turned the people of Sun City into “dried roses,” with dry, peely, scaly, itchy, withered, and weather-beaten skin.
 
Dr. Jacobs waiting room was always filled. Thousands of patients! Where did all of these dry and sensitive people come from? The dry and sensitive patients came in by the busloads. Dr. Jacobs was physically exhausted and needed help in caring for them. Thus, True Moisture®, LLC was born of necessity. Dr. Jacobs needed a dry and sensitive skin care method that really worked. And so, he developed our ABC Skin Care System and True Moisture’s six gentle dry and sensitive skin care products for his Sun City patients.

One Source

As an over-worked dermatologist, Dr. Jacobs was searching for one dry skin care source where my patients could find a medically sound, low allergy, educational, easy to learn skin care program for dry and sensitive skin. Dr. Jacobs was tired of seeing people return to clinic month after month without relief. Patients were perplexed: What do I avoid? What do I use? Where do I get it? How do I use it? How can I afford it? That one magic company was not found. His patients were puzzled. Dr. Jacobs had to send his dry and sensitive patients to several sources for several different sensitive skin products.

Confused Patients

Most dry and sensitive skin care companies fell short of my clinical expectations. Their products were either too expensive, or contained actual allergic or irritating ingredients. To add further confusion, there was no continuity in written dry-sensitive patient education. One company gave bits and pieces of information; another gave other knowledge. No one tied it all together in an easy to use package. Dr. Jacobs needed one educational system and one product source to manage a large number of dry and sensitive people. Dr. Jacobs couldn’t find that one unique source, so he created True Moisture®, LLC to meet the skin care and educational needs of his dry Sun City patients.

Daily Products

Dr. Jacobs began to realize, “What good is it if I prescribe healing dry and sensitive skin medications, but my patients go home to use their allergic and irritating personal skin care products?” It’s like dumping water onto a fire, and then pouring gasoline. The truth to this dry skin care dilemma hit Dr. Jacobs like a brick: “All dry and sensitive people need certain basic low allergy skin products to fulfill their daily skin care needs.”

What was Dr. Jacobs looking for? A gentle skin barrier body cream, a gentle, truly non-comedogenic face lotion, a gentle cleanser, a low allergy shampoo, a gentle hair conditioner, and something gentle to shave with. In his search, Dr. Jacobs found one company that made a good body cream, another that made a good shampoo, and one a good cleanser, but he could not find the total package.

Read the Book, Use the Products, and Get Better

While certain companies tried, there was no single stand-alone resource that offered what my dry and sensitive patients needed most: A complete set of simple, no hocus pocus dry and sensitive skin care products, packaged together with complete patient education. Dr. Jacobs was looking for one dry skin product and educational source where he could send his patients to: “Read the book, use the products, and get better.”

True Moisture’s six gentle dry and sensitive skin care products combined with the ABC patient educational approach: Avoid, Bathe, Cover, became the long-awaited answer for my dry and sensitive patients.
